About Light the Future Foundation
A school, an orphanage, a family – built on love and resilience. We are working to make this dream a reality.
Meet Patrick Ssenyondo
Patrick grew up in Kiboga District and saw first‑hand how poverty and disease were robbing children of their future. In 2016, he started caring for a handful of orphaned children from his own pocket. He quickly realised that the problem was bigger than one person – it needed a permanent solution.
With the help of local volunteers and a few small donations, Patrick founded the Light the Future Foundation. Today he leads a team of teachers, caretakers, and healthcare workers who serve nearly 200 children. "These children are my own," he says. "If I don't fight for them, who will?"
🎯 Our Mission
To rescue, educate, and empower vulnerable children in Uganda – especially orphans and those affected by HIV/AIDS – by providing a safe home, quality education, comprehensive healthcare, and life skills training so that they can become self‑reliant, compassionate leaders in their communities.
🔭 Our Vision
A Uganda in which no child is left behind because of poverty or disease. We envision a generation of young people who break the cycle of poverty and become agents of positive change – physically healthy, emotionally secure, and academically prepared.
Why LIFFO Exists
In Uganda, over 1.2 million children lack access to quality education. Many rural schools have no funding, insufficient teachers, and inadequate facilities. Orphaned children – especially those living with HIV – are among the most vulnerable. Without intervention, they are likely to drop out of school, face stigma, and die without treatment. LIFFO was created to change that reality. We started in a small rented building, and through determination and God’s grace, we are now working towards building our own full primary school with dormitories, a kitchen, a clinic, and a small farm that will provide a permanent home for the children.
Our Core Values
Compassion
Every child deserves love, dignity, and a second chance.
Education
We believe learning is the most powerful tool to break the cycle of poverty.
Community
We involve local leaders, parents, and volunteers – together we are stronger.
Integrity
We are transparent with every donation and accountable to our supporters.
Sustainability
We run income‑generating projects like a small garden and craft workshop to move toward self‑sufficiency.
