The Seed Is Planted

"I want to become a nurse so I can help other children like me."
Namata lost both parents to HIV when she was six. She arrived at LIFFO weak and malnourished. Today she is one of the top students in her class. "Before, I used to cry every day because I didn’t know where my next meal would come from. Now I have a family, food, and my medication. I love science and dream of becoming a nurse to care for sick children."
"Here I learned how to read. My favorite book is about lions."
Joseph was brought to the foundation by a community leader after his grandmother became too ill to care for him. He had never attended school. "I was afraid to speak in class, but teacher said I am clever. Now I can read and write. They also gave me medicine and I feel strong."
"I never thought I could go to secondary school. Now I'm top of my class."
Aisha was abandoned as a baby. She joined LIFFO in 2019 and discovered a love for mathematics. "At my old life, school was a dream. Here, I have teachers who encourage me. I want to become an accountant."
"Football gives me joy, but medicine will be my future."
David arrived severely malnourished. After treatment and nutrition, he became one of the most energetic children. He captains the football team and dreams of becoming a doctor. "I remember the nurse who saved my life. I want to make sick children smile again."
